Brand new location for our latest review, Providence Canyon in Georgia. Since we were camping in the woods we thought that Bear Fight American Single Whiskey was the perfect choice. We pack up the vehicles and head out to the Grand Canyon of the East, Providence Canyon, GA! This canyon covers 1,003 acres with 16 canyons that go as deep as 150 feet. Started off with a little fire in our bellies to warm us up on the crisp winter morning then headed out on our 7 mile hike. Amazing to see the canyons from the top and pass by an old homestead that still has the antique cars resting in the dirt because it would cost too much remove them. Then we down into the canyon we go to get a good look from the bottom up. The colors of burgundy, purple, orange and white paint the landscape with a breathtaking view. Interesting were the trails at the bottom were steams with an inch or water coming from the cliffs. Back at camp it was time to hang the hammocks, grab the bottle and relax with a few glasses of whiskey! The trip ended with packing up in the rain but it only added to the experience. It does get cold down here in Florida for just about a week or two so making a Hot Toddy to take the chill out of air was put into works. For the ingredients: 8oz. - Earl Grey Tea 2tps - Fresh Lemon Juice 2oz. - Florida Honey 1.5oz. - Whiskey(Heaven Hill) Pinch of Cinnamon Let the tea steep for at least 5 minutes then add your other ingredients and stir but save the cinnamon for last. Garnish can include a cinnamon stick or lemon wheel but that only gets in the way. This has always been a cure all if you're feeling under the weather in winter or just a good excuse to drink warm whiskey. This month's #WhiskeyVenture took me up to Raleigh, NC to visit my brother. Decided to do a #flashreview and then headed to his local liquor store. As we strolled the aisles of spirits my brother Josh picked out Rogue Spirits Dead Guy Whiskey ( partially because of the cool topper, ok, mostly) and then I wanted to choose a local bottle and found Blonde Whiskey by Troy and Sons in Asheville. Plus, an Ashton VSG cigar for me and a Kentucky Fire Cured for my bro. Headed back to the premiere whiskey tasting area in Josh's Power Wheels Chop Shop and popped them open and put them through the tasting test. The Rogue being from Dead Guy Ale, had a very different flavor even then most whiskies I've had. Then the Blonde was up next and it was more like whiskies I've tasted with some subtle differences. A little change of scenery, this time shooting from Atlanta, GA with a beautiful fall back drop! On deck is a bottle of Caribou Crossing from Montreal Distillery made from over 200,000 selected barrels for this single barrel (not sure how that works, but ok). We sample this whisky that is supposed to reinvent Canadian Whisky. I also brought along some Blanton's since both are produced for the Sazerac Company and do a little side by side. Not sure what to expect, we popped open the Caribou and it was very interesting, watch the vid and see what we thought. Two very different tasting notes but we both agree on the outcome.
