While visiting, Dan did a tour at Stranahan's Distillery and brought back a bottle for us to do one last review before he moves on. Our first Bushcraft WhiskeyVenture or as we called it, Whiskey in the Wilderness was a success! We hung out with Joe and Emma from Valiant Outfitters where we learned some necessary bushcrafting skills like, proper way to use your knife, baton wood, how to start a fire with charcloth and how to make a shelter with a tarp and paracord. Also, Whiskey Krew members Milo and Mase made it out to partake in the days festivities. It wouldn't be a WhiskeyVenture if we didn't bring WHISKEY! For our part, we brought a bottle of Noble Oak Bourbon and High West's Yippee Ki-Yay. Plus tin cups to drink it out of around the camp fire. Our schedule: • Intro to Bushcrafting, knife skills, shelter set up • Whiskey tasting, Noble Oak Bourbon • Lunch! (Emma's chili won) • Fire starting using char cloth and flint. • Overview of the days events, dinner. • Final Whiskey Tasting with High West Yippee Ki-Yay which is a blend of 3 different ryes then finished in Vermouth and Syrah barrels This is what Whiskey and a Hammock is all about, enjoying the outdoors, relaxing with a pour of whiskey and making memories with friends. We had a great time at the 2nd annual Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Fest at Metropolitan Park in Jacksonville. Beautiful weather and plenty of spirits! We were pouring Brass & Anchor a local whiskey brand from Warriors and Whiskey and to say it was popular would be an understatement! We took a little break to sample some things ourselves and see our good friends Noal at Old Elk, Ingrid at Whistle Pig, and Tyler and Von Payne.
